Axemen Weekly News 7/17/2017

This past week the Axemen played two games finishing with a 1-1 record.  On Wednesday, the Axemen defeated the Snake Island Muskies in Cornwall by a score of 11-3.  On Saturday at home, the Axemen lost a tought game to their league rival Mohawks by a score of 10-8.  The game was played in front an Axemen record crowd thanks to the support of all of the out of town minor lacrosse teams competing in the Nepean Knights Lacrosse Tournament.

Player Notes:

Mark Vradenburg is only 3 points behind the QSLL/TNSLL points leader, former Axemen, Blake Kenny.  Mark currently leads the QSLL points race by 11 points.  This Saturday at home against Tyendinaga, Vradenburg will be pushing to surpass Kenny as the leading scorer of the combined leagues as the Braves have completed all of their regular season games.

Injury Report:
Two players received significant injuries over the week.  In Wednesday’s game, Curtis Perry received a knee injury and looks like he is finished for the year.  Alec Johnston broke his forearm in Saturday nights match up and will miss the rest of the season.
