Official Team Announcement
The Axemen organization would like to announce the following personnel changes
On the Floor…
Axemen Captain and one of our organizations founding team members Tim Bergin has been traded to the Tyendinaga Thunderbirds at Tim’s request. It was a tough decision for Tim and equally difficult for the Axemen organization to accept. Tim and his young family have relocated to his hometown of Kingston, Ontario. Our players and their families are important to the Axemen organization so despite losing Tim, we wish him and his family all the best. The Axemen organization thank Tim for all his dedication, hard work and leadership both on and off the floor. He has been a foundational member of the Axemen and he will be missed by his teammates, fans and coaches.
The Axemen are pleased to announce the player return of Ottawa’s own Ian Crawford and the acquisition of Brent Adams and Ryan Fournier. Ian, a former NLL player has been sharing coaching duties with the Axemen while recovering from a career-threatening hand injury. Ian was selected to the President’s Cup All-Star team in last summer’s successful finalist finish. Ian will be rejoining his teammates as one of the captains.
Brent Adams is a Major League Lacrosse (MLL) professional transition player from the Boston Cannon and a member of the New England Black Wolves (NLL). He has been identified as one of the fastest players in the league and will add more firepower to an already dangerous Axemen transition team.
Ryan Fournier is one of Ottawa’s local rising lacrosse stars from the Gloucester Griffins and Capitals programs. He just finished a successful NCAA season with final four Loyola, Ryan will be an impact player the moment he steps on the floor. He was acquired by the Axemen from the MSL’s Oakville Rock.
On the Bench…
Joining the Axemen bench will be former NLL and MSL Head Coach Joe Sullivan. We are extremely pleased Joe has joined the Axemen leadership team. We have a talented group of hard working, dedicated players with unlimited potential. Coach Sullivan will fill a critical role as co-coach and mentor to the current coaching staff. His technical knowledge, experience and overall presence will accelerate the teams continued development.
