Right before the all star break, the Boston Cannons made another addition to their offense with the signing of Callum Crawford. To make room for the attackman, the Cannons waived Greg Rogowski off the practice roster and placed midfielder Martin Bowes on that roster.

The Cannons attack has undergone several changes over the course of the season. Will Manny and Davey Emala remain the backbones, but with Wells Stanwick struggling at the start of the year, they attempted to bring in more players at the position. At first it was Greg Melaugh, now on the practice roster, and then rookie free agent Kylor Bellistri took the position.

Crawford would fill in as the fourth attackman presumably, a position the Cannons have not used often throughout the season. The Denver Outlaws waived Crawford in late June. Denver had picked him up from the player pool in January, and in his first few MLL contests, he put up 14 points.

Primarily an indoor player, Crawford had never played in MLL before. A star in the National Lacrosse League, Crawford helped lead the Colorado Mammoth in the playoffs, and his playing in Colorado was presumed reason he did play in Denver this season.

However, signing with Boston would indicate that he is willing to play MLL in other locations as well. In the summers, Crawford had normally played indoor lacrosse, and this year he still has in the Quebec Senior Lacrosse League. This season in five games with the Capital Region Axemen, he has netted 39 points.

One of the most prolific players in the NLL, Crawford scored a career high 115 points with the Mammoth this season. He signed with Colorado as a free agent after six years in the Minnesota Swarm organization, and seasons with the Chicago Shamrox, San Jose Stealth, and Calgary Roughnecks.

Crawford had proven in his four games with the Outlaws that he was more than capable at the outdoor game. With the Cannons in the midst of the playoff race, it will be fascinating to watch his role develop.
