June 3rd 2017 proclaimed Capital Region Axemen Day in the City of Ottawa

OTTAWA, JUNE 2, 2017 — Capital Region Axemen Lacrosse, members of the Quebec Senior Lacrosse League (QSLL), announced today that it has been awarded a Mayoral proclamation from the City of Ottawa and Mayor Jim Watson celebrating the five-year anniversary of the team. The proclamation declares June 3rd 2017 ‘Capital Region Axemen Day’ in the City of Ottawa, and will be presented to team officials at the home opener vs the Cauhnawaga Indians taking place at Howard Darwin Arena on Saturday June 3rd at 7pm.

“We are thrilled to see continued exposure to the sport of box lacrosse in the Capital Region,” said head coach Jason Tasse. “The proclamation of Capital Region Axemen Day salutes not only our fifth season in Ottawa, but also celebrates the contributions of everyone that has been involved in our organization since our inception.”

“In past years we have given the city a chance to see some of the most skilled lacrosse players in the world, and we are excited to do it again in our fifth year.” said team representative Krista Swanson. “We wouldn’t be celebrating 5 successful years without the support of the City of Ottawa, and the lacrosse community as a whole.”

The Axemen are inviting the City of Ottawa to join them in celebrating Capital Region Axemen Day by attending their home opener vs the Cauhnawaga Indians taking place at Howard Darwin Arena on Saturday June 3rd at 7pm.

The fifth season for the Axemen will be an exciting one as the QSLL has interlocked with the Three Nations Senior Lacrosse League (TNSLL). The combined league will see teams with both professional and semi-professional players playing in the region at each home game.
