Young Guns Ready For Opener

Incoming Rookies Ty Logan, Aaron Forster, and Scott Taylor looking to help bolster Axemen roster on both sides of the ball

Ty Logan, Scott Taylor, and Aaron Forster will all be new to the Axemen roster this summer, and of all the fresh faces that will be competing on the floor for the Capital Region Axemen this summer, this trio of rookies will be looking to make an immediate impact.

But while they may be new to the Axemen this Summer, for those in the tight-knit Ottawa lacrosse community, these names will sound very familiar.

On offense, Aaron Forster returns to Ottawa, where he played his minor lacrosse for the Nepean Knights, from the Jr. A Toronto Beaches organization. He’ll be looking to help add to the Axemen’s scoring threats, as he plays a very balanced game on offense. He is just as dangerous a shooter as he is a feeder, evidenced by the 117 points (59 goals, 58 assists) he’s put up over the past three seasons for Beaches. As well, he also plays Division-1 NCAA lacrosse for the New Jersey Institute of Technology, where he’s been the team’s leading scorer in each of the past three seasons.

On the defensive side of the ball, Ty Logan and Scott Taylor will be welcome additions to the back end.

Scott Taylor joins the Axemen after captaining the Jr. B Nepean Knights for the 2017 season, a team he has been a member of for the past five seasons. He is also captain of the University of Ottawa Gee-Gees Men’s Lacrosse team, a team he has played on since their inaugural season in 2014.

Ty Logan is the only one of the three who didn’t grow up in Ottawa, however he has been living in the nation’s capital while attending Carleton University, where he’s been anchoring the defense of the Carleton Ravens Men’s Lacrosse team. Ty has bounced between Jr. A and Jr. B the past few summers, suiting up for the Six Nations Rebels, Six Nations Arrows, and the Akwesasne Indians. He was a member of the Rebels team that won the 2014 Founders Cup.

All expressed their desire to help in any way that will help take the team to the next level; a chance at competing in August for the 2018 President’s Cup.

“The drive to win coming from everyone involved in this organization is easy to see, and that’s one of the reasons why I’m so excited to be able to play here,” said Ty Logan. “To have the opportunity to play on a team that already has a winning culture and track record is amazing; I’m looking to step into any role they want for me to help the team continue down the same path, hopefully ending with a President’s Cup at the end of August.”

All will be suiting up at practice with their new teammates this week, in preparation of the Axemen’s home opener on Saturday, May 12th at 7pm at Bell Arena vs. the Caughnawaga Indians.
